Tess

Tess

Tess began as a discussion with a good friend of mine . Brad Dagenais . Brad was a retired marine mechanic with a passion for Mercury outboards  and had acumulated several  examples , including a pair of Mark 58′ s .  Outboard motors are highly evolved industrial art forms , but there seem to be a lot less boats that have survived than the motors . A relative abundance of art  and a shortage of galleries . The initial discussion was for me to design a boat to go with the Mark 58’s and Brad would build it . The design work was completed and the discussion evolved to me cutting out the frames on my CNC router . –Eventually I wound up completing the hull and deck ready for Brad to take home and finish, and to mount the mark 58’s . I’ve included a few photos of Brad meticulous rebuild of the engines . Sadly . Brad lost his battle to cancer in 2017 , but Tess carries on as a testament to his passion and craftsmanship . I am honored to have known him and to have the opportunity to work with him on this project
